You've fallen victim to a terrible crime. No one asked your permission, no one told you it would happen. In fact, there won't be a recollection that you were even affected by all this anyway. The took you, they drugged you, they abandoned you. And you won't remember any of it. ![]() A group of people, tasked with testing a drug to prevent memory loss, have pulled multiple people from various worlds, planning to test their drug on various types of people from various universes and walks of life. After being pulled, they are immediately put under and injected with the first dose. They're continually drugged throughout their time there, though it's not known how. Upon waking up, they'll be in a place completely different from their own home called Fontenelle, yet now it is their own home. With a new and entirely fabricated life, characters will exist in this new world without knowing of their past lives. Characters may remember other characters as people in their new lives, but may or may not actually know of them from their previous life. As new people come, the residents memories somehow warp to include them (in the event that you would like to have predetermined CR with them). There are lots of opportunities to world build, create locations and past events/relationships, and slowly but surely, they will regain memories of their past life. Characters can regain memories on a set time parameter. Every two weeks, characters will remember one memory. These will start out very small (like phrases, sensations, little glimpses of the past), and will grow as their time spent in Fontenelle lengthens. There won't be any real limits as to what can be regained into a character's memory, but it should follow the pattern of small memories to bigger ones. There will be a set schedule for these memory regains, so even if your character came in the day before the regain schedule, they will still be eligible for a regained memory. This is due to being related to the overall plot of the game. When it comes to activity, there will be an occasional check in to make sure you're still being active and around. Linking a thread or post you have going is enough to suffice! Just make sure you'd like to be active. Hiatuses are unnecessary since activity should be no pressure. When it comes to the interaction types, there is one centralized forum for the town, fontenelle.ca, which has posting capabilities that are similar in style to a forum but also have craigslist type areas. This forum is difficult to use and can be down quite often, but still there. The internet is accessible in spurts but most of the time there will be timeout errors and half loaded pages (which can be blamed on the captor's desire to reveal as little information as possible to keep the setting isolated). This can be accessed on cellphones with that capability. Otherwise, texting can happen between people who've exchanged numbers as well as contact via video or computerized calls if they have each other added using program contacts. There is an emphasis on action related interaction, but no tears will be shed if you use computer/phone based communication. It's there for you to use! more about apping and in game relationships. When it comes to the relationships between characters, people can come up with CR that is predetermined by communicating OOCly. Because this is an AU with fabricated memories, characters may or may not know each other, regardless of whether they know each other in their own universe or canon. Two characters from different universes might be best friends in their Fontenelle memories, while two close characters in their own worlds may not know each other at all in this new life. As new characters come, memories can be altered to include them. There are other people milling about in the city, helping run things and own businesses and etc. A character can have any kind of story they wish as long as it fits the Fontenelle universe (meaning powers, fire breathing dragons, etc. are excluded from the normal city universe). When it comes to families, characters can adopt others as family such as taking on another character as a sibling or child in their Fontenelle memories. For adult and teen characters, parents seem to have gone somewhere (which where is up to you), and won't be back anytime soon. Maybe it's an extended vacation or death; it's up to you to decide. For characters 12 and younger, if they aren't attached to another character...well, we're not sure! If you do app a child, we can talk to you about your options and figure out what you're okay with. When it comes to a character's Fontenelle history vs. their actual history, it can vary drastically! Their personality should coincide somewhat so that the character isn't completely unmistakable and it's recommended that the history should try to imitate or use some elements of their other history. For example, if your character is the princess of a flower kingdom, perhaps they are now a florist. This is recommended and not necessary! Characters that are completely inhuman will not be acceptable (ICly due to not being candidates for the experiment), but humanoid characters that have inhuman forms or inhuman body parts (tails, wings, ears, etc.) will lose them as a side effect of the drug.
